Creative arts

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Performing arts and band

At William Bayldon Public School we offer a range of activities for students interested in the creative and performing arts. All students in K-2 participate in junior choir which competes annually at the Coffs Harbour Eisteddfod as well as performing at numerous events throughout the year.

Primary students have the opportunity to join a number of lunchtime clubs that are available each week. Primary choir work hard all year preparing for a variety of school and community performances including the Coffs Harbour Eisteddfod, Education Week at Park Beach Plaza, ‘Music! Count Us In’ and more. Dance club is very popular with boys and girls with dances performed at Eisteddfod, Education Week and school events.

Keyboard lessons are available to all students with a teacher from the Coffs Harbour Regional Conservatorium of Music at a reduced rate.

Our WBPS Band is open to students in Years 4-6 who are committed to learning to play an instrument. Instrument lessons occur weekly with professional tutors and our band comes together to rehearse for one hour per week. This is an excellent opportunity for students to succeed in another area of the Performing Arts.

Our whole school concert is held bi-annually and involves every student in creating, rehearsing and performing.
