Parking

Parents are not to drive cars into the school grounds/staff car park area to deliver or collect children. The car park is for staff parking only.

Disabled parking is for the taxis to deliver and collect students from Special Education Classes only.

Bus travel

Free bus travel is provided for all children K to Year 2 and to children with disabilities.

Students in Years 3 to 6 are able to access free travel if they meet the criteria under the School Transport Scheme.

Applications forms are completed online via the Transport NSW website. They are then endorsed online by the school.

Teachers provide supervision for children boarding buses at school until the bus departs. All children are involved in an active ‘Bus Behaviours and Safety’ program. However, final supervision and control of bus behaviours is the responsibility of the bus driver and the bus company. Any problems need to be mentioned to the school and then taken up directly with the bus company.

The brochure ‘School Children Transport Scheme’ tells you about expectations for safe behaviour.

Any variations to bus travel must be communicated to the teacher by note otherwise the normal arrangements will be carried through. The child’s word is not sufficient.

Give your child a note to give the bus driver if they are to set down your child at other than the normal stop.

Getting to and from school safely

As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. Student safety is our priority.

Keep our school community safe by:

  • driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
  • being a good role model
  • never calling your child from across the road
  • using the safest place to cross the road.

For parents and carers of younger children

Discuss with your child how to be safe when:

Also talk about and practise:

  • safe travel routes
  • plans for when unexpected things happen
  • what to do in wet weather.

Subsidised school travel

Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.

  • The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
  • The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.
